It controls the mind and can affect many more people in your life then you realize. In my experience with depression I basically had no appetite, I was always sleepy, and my mood swings were so bad that I pushed everyone around me who was trying to help me with my anxiety and depression far far away.

Unfortunately this is one of those feelings associated with depression, and can really make the condition difficult to acknowledge. Anxiety and depression have become so prevelant that it’s not uncommon at all for people to be taking medication for one, or even both of these mood disorders.

Sleep is your armor that battles depression. Without adequate rest you are much more susceptible to the self destructing and damaging messages that keep twirling around in your brain. I realize that depression cuts the appetite right out of people with this condition. But in order to battle back against depression, you need to be consuming enough of those healthy nutriets and calories so that you can provide your brain and your body with strength.

    1) The use of a live video with you sharing helpful perspectives is important and quite likely appreciated by viewers; 2) I found the setting (stationary, in a car) odd; 3) Why the shades? I’ve always been told that part of truly connecting with people is via eyesight and direct line of sight (think: being able to look into the depth of one’s soul); 4) Your an energetic guy (well, I’m figuring so as a former competitive athlete) — so where’s the energy in the video? I’d like to see the enthusiatic Dennis who’s all about his self-belief, strengths, persona, rekindled passions, etc.; 5) The video’s tone starts out (IMHO) impassionate and a bit monotonal. I thought that was intentional yet that’s the range you continued to share your message within. Again, some energy, inspiration, and body language would seem appropriate as you message; 6) I (personally) found the clip too long. In today’s sound bite age, I sense you have an opportunity to repackage or repurpose this valuable information/explanations into ten separate and unique videos. Perhaps consider creating a series for people to watch/listen to when they have a minute or two.

So an afterthought… another consideration for your video messaging: I’d like to see you in an interactive exchange with someone who has worked with you and can engage in a dialogue about shifting and transitioning through GAD or whatever they were afflicted with. When it’s solely us in front of a camera lens (and I’m guilty of this) it’s tough for viewers to keep focused on the speaker. Food for thought going forward.

    Also, bravo on no TV! But what’s wrong with Doritos? 🙂
